Accra-Aflao Highway Accident Leaves Several Passengers Injured

A tragic road accident occurred on the Accra-Aflao Highway at Awalavi in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, resulting in several passengers sustaining various degrees of injuries. The incident happened when a 15-seater transit minibus with registration number GT 5645-21 lost control and hit a pavement metal along the road.
Cause of Accident: The accident occurred after the minibus’s rear tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. Eyewitnesses blame overspeeding.
Several passengers sustained injuries on the head, arms, legs, and other body parts.
Residents of Awalavi quickly came to the aid of the passengers, transporting the injured to Weta Hospital before the police arrived.
Some passengers reported missing valuable items, including mobile phones.
The Ghana Police Service is yet to comment on the accident, but an investigation is expected to be launched ¹
Eyewitness Account:
“I was on my rice farm along the Accra-Aflao Highway, and I heard a sudden loud sound of tyre burst. Suddenly, the vehicle lost control and hit the metal along the road as well,” said Mr. Emmanuel Awudza, an eyewitness.
Passenger’s Account:
“We boarded the vehicle at Tema roundabout and we’re going to Aflao. I can’t really tell how this accident happened, but we thank God there is no fatality as at now,” said Madam Sandra Mileba, a businesswoman and passenger on the bus
