Trailer Driver Brutally Assaulted by Motor Riders After Fatal Road Incident in Western Region

A 35-year-old trailer driver, identified as Kwamena Martins Elicher, has reportedly been brutally assaulted by a group of unidentified motor riders at Tarawa-Bogoso Barrier in the Western Region.
According to information gathered, the incident occurred while the driver was transporting goods from Tema to Enchi. The attack is believed to have been triggered by allegations that the trailer driver had knocked down and killed a motor rider, who was said to be a friend of the attackers.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that shortly after the fatal incident, a group of motor riders intercepted the trailer and physically assaulted the driver, leaving him with injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged accident and the subsequent assault are yet to be fully established, while police are expected to investigate both incidents.
The National Chairman of the Heavy Duty Drivers Association of Ghana, Anthony Amissah, has condemned the attack and called on law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest those responsible.
He also urged motorists and members of the public to allow the law to take its course instead of resorting to mob justice.
The condition of the driver has not yet been officially disclosed.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations continue.
