Three Police Officers Arrest Eight Suspected Nigerian Online Fraudsters in Kotokrom Hideout

The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested eight suspected online fraudsters operating from a hideout in a self-contained building at Kotokrom in the Sunyani East Municipality.
The suspects, believed to be Nigerian nationals, were arrested by three police personnel on Sunday, 5 October, at around 4:00 p.m.
According to sources, an informant called the police after a victim was heard calling for rescue through a window.
The police, upon receiving the call, proceeded to the fenced building, arrested the suspects and rescued the victim.
Information indicates that one of the suspects bit the hand of an officer and injured him in the process.
The police retrieved about 19 mobile phones, tablets, a router, internet receivers, laptops and other electronic devices.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, residents in the area expressed worry about the activities of foreign nationals in Kotokrom.
They told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark FM that they were unaware of their activities and mentioned that mostly one of the suspects comes out to buy food and supply their needs.
The residents called on government to prosecute the suspects or repatriate them to their hometown.
They advised landlords to make adequate enquiries about prospective tenants before giving out their rooms for rent.
