Three men lost their lives when a heavy-duty HOWO 371 truck overturned near the Asenema Waterfalls along the Adukrom–Koforidua Highway.
The tragic accident occurred on the busy route, leaving the three male occupants trapped inside the vehicle after it flipped over.
Personnel from the Kpong Municipal Fire Station were promptly dispatched following reports of people trapped in the wreckage. Upon arrival, firefighters conducted extrication operations to free the victims from the mangled truck.
Despite the rescue efforts, all three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies were subsequently handed over to officers from the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and conveyed to the Tetteh-Quarshie Memorial Hospital morgue in Mampong for preservation and further procedures.
After completing the rescue and recovery operation, the fire crew worked to clear the debris from the roadway, restoring safe passage for other motorists before returning to their station.
The Ghana National Fire Service has not yet released details on the cause of the crash, but investigations by the police are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Road accidents involving heavy-duty vehicles remain a persistent concern on Ghana’s highways, often resulting in fatalities due to the high speeds, challenging terrain, and heavy loads common on such routes.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially on winding sections like the stretch near Asenema Waterfalls, to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
