The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has invited all commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators within the Metropolis to a special meeting as part of efforts to regularise their activities.
In a public announcement dated 29th October 2026, the Assembly said the meeting is in line with its mandate under the Local Government Act, 2016, and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025, which legalises and provides a regulatory framework for commercial motorcycle and tricycle operations.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss safety, the Assembly’s licensing, registration, operational zones, and guidelines for a smooth transition to safe and sustainable operations.
All Okada and Aboboyaa operators within the Metropolis are requested to attend the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 2nd December 2026, at 10:00 a.m. prompt at the Assembly Chamber, Sekondi.
Attendance is mandatory for all operators, owners and union leaders.
The Assembly has called for full cooperation to ensure order, safety and sanity in the transport sector.
