Star Assurance CEO Mrs. Boatemaa Barfour-Awuah Sworn In as New GETFund Board of Trustees Member
Mrs. Boatemaa Barfour-Awuah, Chief Executive Officer of Star Assurance and President of the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), has been officially sworn in as the newest member of the Board of Trustees of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
The swearing-in ceremony took place today during the first board meeting of the year, administered by Hon. Kwasi Emmanuel Bedzrah, Chairman of the GETFund Board of Trustees.
Mrs. Barfour-Awuah brings a wealth of professional expertise to the board. She is a Chartered Insurer with the ACII qualification from the United Kingdom and holds dual Master’s degrees in Finance and Accounting as well as Management from the University of Southampton.
Her appointment to the GETFund board stems from her recent election as the 12th President of the Ghana Insurers Association, which holds a statutory representation on the Fund’s governing board. She replaces Mr. Seth Kobla Aklasi, who previously occupied the position.
The GETFund Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the allocation and management of resources aimed at supporting education infrastructure, scholarships, and other critical interventions in Ghana’s educational system.
Mrs. Barfour-Awuah’s swearing-in is expected to strengthen the board with her deep experience in finance, insurance, and corporate leadership.
