Residents Appeal for Urgent Repairs After Bridge Washed Away on Bawku-Garu-Tempane-Pusiga Road
Residents and travellers along the Bawku-Garu-Tempane-Pusiga road are appealing for urgent intervention after a bridge on the route was washed away.
The collapse has disrupted movement along the major road, leaving motorists struggling to cross the damaged section and reportedly stranding some travellers on both sides.
The affected route serves as an important link between Bawku, Garu, Tempane and Pusiga, making the disruption a major concern for residents and businesses in the area.
Footage from the affected area shows a large truck and several vehicles gathered around the damaged portion of the road as residents attempt to navigate the washed-off section.
Motorists say the condition of the road poses a safety risk, particularly as attempts to cross the weakened section continue amid the rains.
Residents are also concerned about the impact on the transportation of farm produce, goods and other essential items between the four communities.
They are therefore calling on the government, the Ghana Highway Authority and other relevant agencies to urgently intervene and restore the damaged bridge.
According to residents, failure to address the situation could further disrupt economic activities and make movement between the communities increasingly difficult.
They are appealing for immediate measures to secure the affected section and provide a safe passage for motorists, pedestrians and other road users while permanent repairs are undertaken.
