Prince Osei Owusu Denies Demanding 70% of Earnings in Response to World Cup Omission Rumours

Ghanaian footballer Prince Osei Owusu has officially responded to rumours surrounding his omission from the Ghana national team’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

In a statement, he addressed claims circulating on social media that individuals pretending to be members of his family had demanded he give away 70% of any earnings or bonuses if selected for the tournament.

“I would like to address the recent rumors circulating on social media.

The claims that individuals pretending to be members of my family have stated that I would have to give away 70% of any earnings or bonuses if I were selected for the FIFA World Cup are completely false. These are fake news, and I strongly deny these allegations.

I have always been proud to represent my home country, Ghana, and I remain fully committed to my nation. It has always been an honor to wear the national team jersey.

Of course, I would have loved to be part of the World Cup squad. Unfortunately, it did not happen this time, but that does not change my commitment or respect for Ghana and its national team.

I completely reject and distance myself from all false statements, rumors, and misleading claims being made in my name or on behalf of my family.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and respects the truth.”
