Marcus Rashford Has No Desire to Return to Manchester United – Ready for Pay Cut to Stay at Barcelona

Marcus Rashford does not want to return to Manchester United when his loan spell at Barcelona ends this summer and is willing to accept a significant pay cut to make a permanent move to the Catalan club, according to reports.
The England international, currently on loan at Barça from United, is said to be extremely happy with his situation under manager Hansi Flick and sees the La Liga giants as a club with genuine prospects of winning major trophies in the coming years.
Sources close to the situation (via Mirror Football) indicate that Rashford views his time in Spain as a fresh start and believes Flick is the coach who can help him return to the very top level and achieve continental success.
He is reportedly prepared to sacrifice part of his substantial wages at Manchester United in order to facilitate a long-term transfer to Barcelona, where he feels he fits perfectly into the current project.
Rashford joined Barça on loan in the summer of 2025 with an option to buy, and his performances so far have convinced him — and reportedly the club — that a permanent deal would be the best move for all parties.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are said to be open to a sale if an acceptable offer arrives, especially given the financial pressures and the fact that Rashford has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old’s future is now one of the major storylines heading into the summer transfer window.
