Police Retrieve Vehicle Used in Adabraka Gold Jewellery Shop Robbery

The Ghana Police Service has retrieved a Toyota Highlander vehicle used in the high-profile Adabraka Gold Jewellery Shop robbery that occurred in November 2024.
In a statement issued on Friday, January 16, 2026, police confirmed that the recovery forms part of ongoing investigations into the daylight robbery that shocked residents of Accra.
According to the police, the vehicle was retrieved on January 15, 2026, from its owner, Abdul Samid Larry, popularly known as “Touch,” at Ashaiman Lebanon. The suspect was arrested during the operation, while the vehicle—now identified as a key exhibit in the case—was impounded for further forensic examination.
Police say the suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators as efforts continue to establish his level of involvement and trace other individuals connected to the crime.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all persons involved in the robbery are brought to justice, assuring the public that investigations remain active.
On November 2, 2024, a gang of heavily armed and masked men carried out a daring daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka, Accra. The suspects intercepted a vehicle transporting cash from a gold transaction near the Adabraka Market, using a silver vehicle to block a red Toyota Corolla.
The robbers reportedly fired shots into the air to disperse bystanders and scattered cash to create a diversion before escaping with an estimated GH₵7.5 million. The driver of the targeted vehicle sustained injuries during the attack.
In the course of investigations, police arrested additional suspects on January 7, 2026, including Hamza Agerego (alias Nene Bawku) and Alhassan Elliasu (alias Arab Man) at their hideouts in Ashaiman. Items retrieved during the arrests included pump-action guns, AK-47 ammunition, bulletproof vests, face masks, and a CCTV monitor.
Earlier, a key suspect, Salim Mohammed, also known as Fariwata or Bawasam, was arrested in late 2025 at a hospital in Ashaiman while seeking medical treatment.
Police say investigations are ongoing as they intensify efforts to dismantle the criminal network behind the robbery.
