Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Fraud of Mobile Money Vendors

A police officer in the Upper East Region has been arrested after allegedly defrauding two mobile money vendors of a total of GH¢8,700 by collecting electronic cash from them and failing to pay the equivalent amount in physical cash.

The suspect, identified as General Sergeant Isaac Asare Mensah, is accused of carrying out the alleged fraud in separate transactions involving the two vendors.

According to reports, the officer received electronic cash from the victims but left without handing over the corresponding cash, resulting in a combined loss of GH¢8,700.

He is currently in police custody as investigations into the alleged offence continue.
