Parents Urged to Instill Discipline and Moral Values in Children

The former Presiding Elder of The Church of Pentecost Asawase No. 1 Assembly, Elder Emmanuel Amoah, has called on Ghanaian youth to remain disciplined and God-fearing in order to become responsible members of society.
Speaking after the church donated assorted items to inmates of the Kumasi Central Prison, Elder Amoah said the church continues to play its role in shaping the character of young people through spiritual guidance and moral training. However, he stressed that parents must also take greater responsibility in nurturing discipline among their children.
He noted that while churches can provide guidance, the foundation of good character begins at home and must be reinforced by parents.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Ministry Leader of the Asawase No. 1 Assembly, Deaconess Esther Osei Bonsu, said supporting the needy, including prisoners, is consistent with the teachings of the Bible.
She urged the public to avoid treating inmates as social outcasts and instead show them love, compassion, and support.
According to her, society should embrace prisoners, visit them regularly, and accept them when they are reintegrated into their communities after serving their sentences.
Deaconess Osei Bonsu explained that the Women’s Ministry decided to support the inmates, particularly young prisoners, while also sharing the Word of God with them.
She further advised young people to avoid bad company and activities that could lead them into conflict with the law.
Also speaking at the event, Assistant Women’s Ministry Leader Deaconess Alice Akpoh emphasized the importance of teaching discipline from an early age.
She stated that a child’s character is largely shaped during childhood and therefore requires constant guidance and supervision from parents.
According to her, parents should not leave the responsibility of instilling discipline solely to teachers, pastors, or other authority figures.
She stressed that parental involvement is essential in shaping responsible and morally upright children, adding that no teacher or religious leader can fully transform a child’s character without support from the home.
The church’s donation formed part of its outreach activities aimed at supporting inmates while promoting values of compassion, discipline, and social responsibility.
