AKYEM ETWERESO E/R— The Odau Traditional Area has taken a historic step toward total traditional autonomy, as the Odauwura, Odeneho Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe, officially unveiled a formal petition submitted to the National House of Chiefs and the government seeking full independence for “Odauman.”
The monumental announcement was made during the colorful celebration of the 4th Akwasidae festival held here in Akyem Etwereso.
Addressing an enthusiastic gathering of chiefs, elders, and residents, Odeneho Ayebiahwe declared that the time has come for Odauman to break new ground and operate with full independence and traditional autonomy.
A JOURNEY BACKED BY FAITH AND UNITY
Sharing the spiritual journey behind the bold move, the Odauwura revealed that he sought divine guidance before taking the step.
He attributed the breakthrough to a period of intense spiritual reflection, noting that waiting upon the Lord at a prayer camp has been the anchor behind the looming independence.
However, the traditional leader emphasized that spiritual backing must be met with physical solidarity. ”Togetherness is the only way to restore Odau to its true glory, success, and progress,” Odeneho Ayebiahwe stressed, warning that achieving this historic milestone requires absolute unity from all stakeholders.
PROMISES OF A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Looking ahead to life after autonomy, the Odauwura assured the gathering that independence would not just be a title, but a catalyst for rapid socio-economic growth.
He promised that his leadership is already actively laying the groundwork to transform the area by focusing on three critical pillars:
JOB CREATION: Bringing sustainable employment opportunities to the youth.
INFRASTRUCTURE : Developing modern road networks and public spaces.
SOCIAL AMENITIES: Improving access to critical healthcare, clean water, and educational facilities.
MANDATE OF SELF-GOVERNANCE
With the petition now officially before the government and the statutory chieftaicy bodies, the people of Odau wait with high hopes for a new era of self-governance and development.
Adding weight to the structural changes ahead, Baffour Osei Afrifa, the Odau Twafohene, revealed that the impending independence will grant the Odaumanhene the full traditional mandate to independently appoint and install his own sub-chiefs, solidifying the area’s sovereign traditional authority.
