OSP Declares Former Finance Ministry Advisor Wanted in SML Corruption Pr

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in Ghana has declared Ernest Darko Akore, a 67-year-old former Chef de Cabinet (Technical Advisor) at the Ministry of Finance, wanted for his alleged involvement in corruption-related offenses tied to the Revenue Assurance Contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML).

The announcement was made in a public notice on July 16, 2025. Akore, who may hold dual Ghanaian-American citizenship and previously possessed an American passport, is believed to be hiding in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, or South Africa.

An arrest warrant has been issued by the High Court’s Criminal Division under the case Republic v. Ernest D. Akore (CR/0397/2025).

The OSP is seeking public assistance to locate him and has provided WhatsApp hotlines (0554494499 and 0554484488) for tips.

This investigation follows a 2023 complaint by The Fourth Estate, which highlighted irregularities in the SML contract.
