Nkoranza North MP Cuts Sod for Construction of 3-Unit Classroom Block at Alataline

The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Mensah, has cut the sod for the construction of a new three-unit classroom block at Alataline, a suburb of Kranka, aimed at improving access to quality education in the area.

The project, which is being funded through the MP’s share of the District Assembly Common Fund, will include a teachers’ office, a KVIP toilet facility, and a urinal.

Construction is expected to be completed within four months.

Speaking at a colourful ceremony on Monday, June 8, 2026, Hon. Mensah explained that an assessment conducted on the old classroom block revealed that the structure had become unsafe and unfit for academic activities.

He described the old building as a “death trap” that posed a serious danger to both pupils and teachers.

According to him, Alataline was selected for the project based on urgent need, as the deteriorating condition of the existing structure was negatively affecting teaching and learning.

The District Chief Executive for Nkoranza North, Hon. Effah Patrick, popularly known as Hon. Patoo, welcomed the initiative and commended the MP for supporting education in the district.

He noted that the new facility would provide a healthy and safe learning environment for pupils and also help bridge the gap in educational infrastructure between rural and urban communities.

The Odikro of Alataline, Morro Naa, also expressed appreciation to the MP, the DCE, and the District Assembly for responding to the community’s long-standing concerns.

He explained that the poor condition of the old classroom block often forced teachers and pupils to stay away from school during rainy weather.

“Some teachers had abandoned the school entirely, but I believe the new block will restore confidence and boost enrollment,” he stated.

The project is expected to be completed before the end of the 2026 academic year.
