Nigerian Woman Arrested in India for Smuggling Cocaine Hidden in Bread

Police in India have arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian woman for allegedly smuggling cocaine concealed inside loaves of bread while travelling from Mumbai to Bengaluru.
The suspect, identified as Olajide Esther, was apprehended by officers of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru following a targeted surveillance operation based on credible intelligence.
According to the police, Esther was intercepted on Tuesday while travelling in a private bus from Mumbai to Bengaluru. A search of her belongings led to the discovery of cocaine hidden inside sliced bread loaves that had been carefully cut open and repacked.

A senior police officer said the drugs were concealed among other food items in her backpack in an attempt to avoid suspicion during transportation.
The CCB noted that the arrest followed close monitoring of the suspect’s movements before she arrived in Bengaluru. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the drugs and whether the suspect is linked to a wider drug trafficking network.
Esther is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged under India’s narcotics laws as investigations continue.
