Househelp Claims 6-Month Sentence Mysteriously Changed to 36 Months in Prison

A former househelp, Aminatu Zakaria, claims she was sentenced to six months in prison, only to discover upon arrival at the facility that her sentence had been changed to 36 months.
Mr Ulysses Amoako, a father figure to Aminatu, told Crime Check that the young lady was accused of stealing some dollars from her employers in Adentan, where she worked as a househelp.
He said she admitted taking the money and kept the remainder in the house. However, her employers, a couple, claimed they could not find it. They however retrieved what was stolen by Aminatu.
Mr Amoako also alleged that the husband had made sexual advances toward Aminatu, which she rejected. He claims the man then threatened to “teach her a lesson.”
Aminatu has now served one year of her sentence and is appealing for help to correct the court records and secure her release. Both the court clerk and the prosecutor, according to Mr Amoako, told her “nothing can be done.”
