Newborn Baby Found Dumped in Sewage System at Tema Community 1

Shock and outrage have gripped residents of Tema Community 1 following the discovery of a newborn baby dumped in a major sewage tunnel near the Standard Chartered Bank.

The gruesome find was made on Sunday, January 4, during a community-led sanitation exercise to clear a blockage in the area’s sewage system. Residents had earlier complained about overflowing liquid waste, prompting volunteers to manually remove solid debris from the underground tunnel.

During the exercise, the volunteers retrieved a heavy black polythene bag that was obstructing the flow. Upon opening it, they were horrified to discover the body of a newborn baby believed to have been dumped shortly after birth.

The discovery drew a large crowd to the scene, with many residents expressing anger and sorrow, condemning the act and calling for justice against the unknown perpetrator.
An eyewitness, identified as Daniel, described the incident as deeply disturbing, noting that the baby and placenta had been wrapped together in the black polythene bag.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident as residents appeal for swift action to identify those responsible and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
