NDC’s Kojo Adu-Asare Dares NPP to Field Bawumia in 2028: “He’ll Make Our Victory Easier”

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Adenta, Kojo Adu-Asare, has thrown down the gauntlet to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), challenging them to nominate Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their 2028 presidential candidate, asserting that his candidacy would guarantee an NDC landslide.

Speaking on JoyNews’  on Tuesday, Adu-Asare declared: “I dare NPP to bring Dr. Bawumia for 2028 because anytime they present him, NDC will beat him to the presidency. He is the one we want to make our victory easier.” He cited Bawumia’s 2024 defeat—where he secured 41.6% against President John Mahama’s 56.5%—as evidence of voter rejection, blaming economic hardships and unfulfilled digitalization promises.

Adu-Asare, a vocal NDC strategist, argued that Bawumia’s association with the NPP’s “failed policies” on inflation and debt makes him unelectable. “Ghanaians have seen through the hype; 2028 will be a repeat,” he added, urging the NPP to field a fresh face to avoid another rout.

The taunt follows former President Akufo-Addo’s October 29 optimism for an NPP comeback, highlighting Bawumia’s role in flagship programs. NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah dismissed the dare: “Bawumia remains our strongest asset—2028 will prove it.”
