NDC Outlines Guidelines for Saturday’s Constituency Elections

The National Democratic Congress has issued guidelines for its constituency-level elections scheduled for Saturday, 24 October, banning tally voting for eight positions and requiring delegates to present valid identification before voting.

The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced the guidelines at a press briefing on Thursday, 22 October, saying all aspirants, delegates and election officials were required to comply with the prescribed procedures.

Under the rules, delegates must present a valid voter ID card, Ghana Card or the party’s plastic membership identification card for verification before casting their ballots.

Mr Kwetey said election officials must enforce the identification requirement consistently, warning that no delegate should be allowed to bypass the validation process or receive preferential treatment.

He also directed that ballots for the women’s and youth conferences be kept securely and counted only after voting in the main constituency executive elections had ended.

The guidelines prohibit tally voting for eight positions, with each delegate entitled to cast only one vote for each of those positions.

Mr Kwetey stressed that the rules were binding and warned participants against practices that could undermine the fairness and integrity of the elections.

“We expect all participants to comply fully with them. Ignorance of the rules will not justify attempts to circumvent them and no aspirants or delegates should seek an advantage through practices that compromise the fairness of the process,” he said.
