A-Plus Unveils Ambitious Plans to Build Port, Free Zones Enclave and New City in Gomoa Central
Gomoa Central MP Targets “Largest Industrial Park in Africa” – Groundwork Underway, Launch Planned Before End of 2026

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has announced bold plans to construct a port, develop a Free Zones enclave, and establish a new city in his constituency.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the MP revealed that significant groundwork for these transformative projects is already underway, including land acquisition and financial commitments made in collaboration with traditional leaders.
According to A-Plus, the entrance to the proposed Free Zones area and the new city will be officially launched before the end of 2026. He described the initiatives as critical steps toward turning Gomoa Central into a major industrial and commercial hub in Ghana and the sub-region.
Strategic Location and Vision
The MP highlighted the constituency’s strategic location along a major African trade corridor as a key advantage that positions it for rapid industrialisation and business growth.
“I am very ambitious about our future plans. We want to build a port, and I am in discussion with my constituents about how we can achieve this together. All we need is government support,” he said.
He reiterated his long-standing ambition to establish “the largest industrial park in Africa” in Gomoa Central, adding that government backing will be essential for realising the vision.
A-Plus further disclosed that discussions are ongoing with the African Union to secure duty-free status for the proposed Free Zones, which would grant businesses in the area access to wider regional and continental markets.
Community Support and Commitment
He emphasised strong local backing for the projects, noting that the local chiefs have been very supportive and that significant financial commitments have already been made.
“We are also in talks with the African Union regarding duty-free status to access wider markets. Currently, we are completing all the necessary groundwork and have already paid for the land. The local chiefs have been supportive, and we have made significant financial commitments. By the end of this year, we plan to launch the entrance to the Free Zones and the new city we want to develop. We are very serious about these plans, and we are not backing down,” he stated.
A-Plus’s announcement has generated excitement among residents of Gomoa Central, many of whom see the projects as a major opportunity for job creation, economic growth, and long-term development in the constituency.
The plans are expected to form a key part of his development agenda as he continues to prioritise industrialisation over frequent participation in parliamentary debates.
