NACOC Arrests Three Foreign Nationals Linked to Beirut Cocaine Seizure

The Narcotics Control Commission has arrested three foreign nationals in Ghana in connection with a 46.7-kilogramme cocaine consignment intercepted at the Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon.
The suspects, a Syrian, a Tunisian and a Lebanese national, were picked up in separate intelligence-led operations on Tuesday, 3rd November 2026, following information shared by Lebanese law enforcement authorities. The group comprises two men and a woman.
Two of the suspects were arrested earlier in the day in Accra, while the third was apprehended at about 5 p.m.
The arrests follow the seizure of the consignment in Beirut on Saturday, 31st October 2026, when a Syrian national arrived from Accra aboard a Middle East Airlines flight with cocaine concealed in two pieces of luggage. The drugs were moved by air from Accra to Beirut.
Lebanese Customs authorities said officers found 40 packages containing a total of 46.7 kilogrammes of cocaine during a search of the passenger’s luggage. The drugs had been hidden with sophisticated packaging and insulation materials intended to evade detection by scanning equipment.
The passenger was arrested at the airport on arrival. Investigators in Ghana and Lebanon are now working to trace how the consignment moved from Accra to Beirut and to identify others suspected of helping to facilitate its movement. Ghanaian and Lebanese authorities have been exchanging information on the case.
The arrests in Ghana form part of ongoing investigations by Ghanaian and Lebanese security agencies into individuals suspected of involvement in the shipment. Authorities are also seeking to establish the suspects’ connections to a wider international drug trafficking network.
The three suspects are being investigated to determine the extent of their alleged involvement in the shipment and in the wider trafficking operation. No further details about the suspects, including their names, had been made public at the time of reporting.
