Ministry Urges Ghanaians to Prioritise Sanitation, Hygiene and Safe Food Practices During Easter

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has appealed to all Ghanaians to make sanitation, environmental cleanliness, and safe food practices a top priority during the Easter festivities.

In a special message marking the celebration, the Minister, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, reminded citizens that the joy of the season should go hand in hand with responsible behaviour that protects public health and the environment.

“As we celebrate this season, we must also take responsibility for protecting the environment and safeguarding public health by ensuring proper food handling and preparation,” he stated.

The Minister specifically urged the public to:

Keep their surroundings clean

Manage waste responsibly

Observe proper hygiene when preparing and consuming food

He also encouraged Ghanaians to embrace the core values of Easter — love, unity, and compassion — and to promote peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among people of all faiths, which he described as essential for national harmony.

Mr. Ibrahim extended warm Easter greetings to all citizens, describing the season as one of joy, renewal, and hope.

The appeal comes at a time when many communities across the country are experiencing increased human activity and waste generation due to travel, family gatherings, and festive celebrations.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting local assemblies in maintaining clean and healthy environments during and beyond the Easter period.
