MCE CRACKS DOWN ON PEDESTRIAN OFFENDERS AT TETEGU FOOTBRIDGE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Weija Gbawe, Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey, has led a joint operation to enforce the use of a newly constructed pedestrian footbridge at Tetegu, following growing concerns over residents’ refusal to use the facility.

Accompanied by a team of officers from the Ghana Police Service, Immigration Service, and the Assembly’s task force, the MCE visited the area to ensure that pedestrians comply with safety regulations by using the footbridge rather than crossing the busy road below.

Hon. Lamptey expressed deep concern over the continued disregard for the footbridge, stressing that the bridge was constructed to save lives and prevent accidents.

He warned that henceforth, perpetrators who risk their lives by refusing to use the footbridge will be arrested and prosecuted; he will not sit by and watch lives being lost due to indiscipline.

Meanwhile, two more people were knocked down by speeding vehicles while using the footbridge after 7DSGH TV NEWS Odehye Kwaku Asiedu reported a month ago, bringing the total to seven people after the footbridge was constructed.
