The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has placed a temporary ban on the erection of billboards within its jurisdiction until further notice.
In a press release dated September 1, 2026, the Management of the Assembly informed the public, particularly outdoor advertising operators, owners, managers and persons who rent out billboard spaces, of the directive.
As part of measures to ensure compliance with the Assembly’s regulations, all billboard operators are required to report to the Assembly and produce valid permits and proof of payment of the appropriate fees for the 2026 financial year.
Affected operators have been given fourteen days, effective Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to submit the requisite documentation for verification and compliance.
The Assembly stated categorically that any billboard structure whose operator fails to provide valid proof of the required permit and payment of the appropriate fees within the stipulated period will be subject to removal by the KMA in accordance with the applicable regulations.
All affected operators are therefore urged to comply within the stipulated period to avoid enforcement action.
For verification and submission of the required documents, operators are directed to visit the Physical Planning Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, located at the Adum Ministries area, near the Ghana Immigration Service Regional Command.
