Over 800 Nursing Mothers Benefit as DCE Eric Ahinakwa Marks World Breastfeeding Week with Essential Supplies
AKIM ASUBOA, E/R- In a major initiative to promote child health and support local families, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asene Manso Akroso, Hon. Eric Ahinakwa, distributed essential maternal and child care items to over 800 nursing mothers across the district to mark this year’s World Breastfeeding Week.
The event took place at the forecourt of the Akim Asuboa Presbyterian Church, bringing together a cross-section of the community, including traditional leaders, clergy, health officials, party executives and party faithfuls, and residents.
A crowd of over 800 lactating mothers gathered at the venue to receive packages tailored to ease the financial burden of child-rearing and improve hygiene.
The distributed supplies included: Baby diapers, baby wipes, Dettol antiseptic, and washing powders; packets of Tom Brown (a locally made, protein-rich cereal) alongside other essential provisions.
Speaking at the gathering, local health officials underscored the vital role proper infant nutrition and hygiene play in early childhood development.
They noted that the assembly’s initiative aligns directly with this year’s World Breastfeeding Week theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
Addressing the beneficiaries and dignitaries, Hon. Eric Ahinakwa reaffirmed the District Assembly’s commitment to prioritizing maternal and child health.
