Judicial Service Declares March 16–20 as ADR Week Nationwide with Focus on Innovation and Technology

The Judicial Service of Ghana has designated Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20, 2026, as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Week across the country.

The announcement was made by Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as part of the activities marking the legal year term. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Adoption of Innovation and Technology to Enhance Access to Justice Delivery through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).”

The week-long initiative is designed to increase public awareness of ADR’s critical role within the justice system and to encourage litigants and court users to embrace mediation and other non-adversarial methods for resolving disputes more efficiently.

A key feature of the week will be the nationwide Mass Mediation Exercise, during which participating courts will dedicate time exclusively to settling cases through mediation. This provides parties with a faster, less costly, and more flexible avenue to resolve conflicts outside the conventional courtroom process.

A total of 138 courts will take part in the exercise, comprising 35 Circuit Courts and 103 District Courts spread across the country.

The ADR Week will be officially launched with a press briefing at the High Court in Sunyani on Monday, March 16, where the Chief Justice is expected to address the media and outline the objectives and expectations for the week.

The Judicial Service emphasized that the Court-Connected ADR programme remains a cornerstone of efforts to improve access to justice, particularly for the poor and vulnerable. By integrating innovative tools and technology into ADR processes, the initiative aims to make dispute resolution quicker, more affordable, and more accessible to all Ghanaians.

Citizens with pending cases in participating courts are encouraged to take advantage of the Mass Mediation Exercise during the week. The Judicial Service has urged the public to support and engage with ADR mechanisms as a practical and effective way to achieve timely and amicable resolutions.
