Jordan Ayew: I Didn’t Think Twice About Joining Sheffield United

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew says he had no hesitation in joining Sheffield United after completing a one-year deal with the Championship club.

The 34-year-old forward joined the Blades as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City at the end of last season.

Speaking to Sheffield United’s media team, Ayew revealed that manager Chris Wilder and the club’s hierarchy made a strong effort to secure his services, making the decision an easy one.

“I’m really, really pleased to be here,” Ayew said. “The manager and the club made a great effort to get me here as quickly as possible, so I want to thank everyone for bringing me over to the Blades.”

Ayew Quick to Accept Sheffield United Offer

The former Crystal Palace and Swansea City attacker said the move brought back memories of his time at Crystal Palace and that he was eager to begin life at his new club.

According to Ayew, the transfer came together rapidly after Wilder contacted him while he was in Ghana.

“It happened really, really quickly because I was in Ghana and the manager called me last week,” he said.

“I didn’t think twice. I just took the opportunity. The most important thing is for me to help the team and for us to have a great season.”

Experienced Addition to Wilder’s Squad

Ayew also expressed his determination to make a meaningful contribution, insisting that Sheffield United have the quality required to enjoy a successful campaign.

The experienced forward brings more than 500 senior appearances to the club, having represented Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City during his career.

His arrival adds considerable experience to Sheffield United’s attacking options as the club targets a strong campaign in the Championship.
