Chris Hughton Opens Up on Prostate Cancer Battle After Full Recovery

Former Ghana national football team head coach Chris Hughton has revealed that he battled prostate cancer, sharing details of his diagnosis, treatment, and successful recovery.
The 67-year-old disclosed that he was diagnosed with the disease in April 2022 after undergoing a routine medical check-up. Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Hughton said he remained calm and focused on treatment rather than fear.
“The news certainly didn’t scare me. I didn’t instantly think ‘this is probably just going to kill me.’ I just thought, ‘OK, we’ll have to do what we have to do,’” he said.
Hughton, a former player for Tottenham Hotspur and the Republic of Ireland, underwent surgery and has since made a full recovery. He credited both the quality of medical care he received and his positive mindset for helping him through the experience.
Now in good health, the former Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion manager says he feels strong and ready to embrace life again.
“I feel great,” he stated.
Reflecting on the journey, Hughton acknowledged that cancer affects individuals differently but maintained that he always believed in a positive outcome.
“I know everyone is different, but I had a strong sense that I would be fine.”
His story adds to growing awareness about the importance of early detection and regular medical check-ups in the fight against prostate cancer.
