Interior Ministry Issues Flood Alert for Greater Accra Ahead of Expected Rainfall

The has urged residents of the Greater Accra Region to remain vigilant after issuing an emergency weather alert warning of possible flooding ahead of expected rainfall on Monday, July 6, 2026.
In a text message sent to residents on Sunday evening, the Ministry warned that moderate rainfall is expected between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with a 40 percent probability of occurrence.
Residents living in low-lying and flood-prone communities have been advised to prepare for possible flooding and take the necessary precautions to protect lives and property.
The Ministry also cautioned the public against driving or walking through floodwaters, urging residents to remain alert and monitor changing weather conditions throughout the period.
The advisory comes as authorities continue recovery efforts following the devastating June 29 floods, which claimed lives, displaced thousands of residents and caused extensive damage to homes, businesses and public infrastructure across several parts of the country.
