‘I’m a Beautiful Girl’ – Examiner Reveals Students Insert Love Notes, Phone Numbers in WASSCE Booklets

An examiner and education consultant, Ernest Ato Bentil, has exposed a shocking trend: some WASSCE candidates write love notes and phone numbers instead of answers in their exam booklets.
Speaking on Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, Mr. Bentil, CEO of Jnycafey Training Consult, said he once found a female candidate’s note that read:
“I’m a beautiful girl” — followed by her phone number.
“She expected me to call for some deal, but WAEC rules don’t allow that. It means she learned nothing but sat in class from childhood,” he said.
The revelation comes as Ghana reacts to poor 2025 WASSCE results, with over 50% failing Core Maths.
Mr. Bentil blames weak early education.
“Our students struggle at JHS because their primary foundation is poor. JHS only builds on upper primary topics. Six years of weak base can’t be fixed in three years,” he explained.
He called for stronger focus on literacy and numeracy from primary level to fix deeper system flaws.
