IGP Promotes 17 Police Officers for Exemplary Service

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seventeen officers of the Ghana Police Service, including two senior officers, in recognition of their exemplary conduct and unwavering dedication to duty.

The promotions, announced on January 14, 2026, form part of efforts by the Police Administration to reward merit and acknowledge officers who have demonstrated outstanding professionalism, discipline, and commitment to operational excellence.

According to the Police Service, the elevation of the officers is intended to boost morale and motivate personnel who consistently uphold integrity and diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities to the nation.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to mark the occasion, Mr. Yohuno, accompanied by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to see their new ranks as a call to greater responsibility, leadership, and service.

He encouraged all officers of the Service to remain committed to the core values of the Ghana Police Service and to maintain high standards of professionalism in their engagement with the public.

The Police Administration reiterated its commitment to recognising hard work and rewarding excellence, describing it as a key pillar for effective policing and the enhancement of public safety across the country.
