GRIDCo, Ghana Gas Announce 5-Hour Shutdown of Atuabo Gas Plant

According to a joint statement issued on Sunday, April 19, the shutdown is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 20, from midnight to 5:00 a.m.
The agencies explained that the exercise is necessary to finalise the replacement of the Burner Management System (BMS), following a major fault that occurred on April 15 and caused extensive damage to the system’s controller.
“Currently, all enabling works toward replacing the BMS are approximately 90% complete,” the statement noted. “To complete the installation, a planned shutdown of the Gas Processing Plant will be required.”
GRIDCo and Ghana Gas assured the public that adequate technical and operational measures have been put in place to ensure the work is completed within the scheduled timeframe.
They also indicated that steps have been taken to minimise the impact of the shutdown on power supply and consumers.
The two state agencies apologised for any inconvenience the exercise may cause and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply across the country.
