GNFS Rescues Two Accident Victims, Puts Out House Fire in Volta Region

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued two people involved in a road accident and successfully extinguished a domestic fire outbreak in the Volta Region.

 

Firefighters respond to two emergencies

 

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Office of the Volta Regional Command on Thursday, May 14, 2026, officers from the Peki Fire Station responded to two separate emergency incidents on Wednesday, May 13.

 

Two rescued in road crash

 

The first incident involved a road accident on the Peki–Asikuma Road at Ayensu.

 

The GNFS said firefighters responded quickly to the scene, where a SINO tipper truck had been involved in the crash.

 

Two male victims were rescued safely by emergency personnel.

 

Domestic fire contained at Asikuma Zongo

 

Later in the day, the fire crew attended to a domestic fire outbreak at Asikuma Zongo.

 

The blaze engulfed a three-bedroom thatch-roofed house, but firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the fire before it spread to nearby buildings.

 

The swift response helped prevent further destruction of property in the area.

 

Public urged to report emergencies quickly

 

The Fire Service has urged the public to remain vigilant and report emergencies promptly to support quick response efforts and help protect lives and property across Ghana.
