The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the Service has failed to pay its personnel their 2025 rent allowance.
The GNFS described the reports as false and unfounded, clarifying that the final tranche of the full payment of the 2025 rent allowance was paid in April 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 21, 2026, the Service said management had taken note of the reports and urged personnel and the general public to disregard them.
According to the statement, “Management wishes to state categorically that the information is false and unfounded, as the last tranche of the full payment of the 2025 rent allowance was effected in April 2026.”
On the 2026 rent allowance, the GNFS explained that a committee has been constituted to facilitate the process and ensure that payments are made soon.
The Service said the committee is working to ensure that the necessary mechanisation process for the 2026 allowance is completed.
The GNFS thanked its personnel for their patience and assured them of management’s commitment to addressing their welfare concerns, including compensation.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and maintaining an open-door policy in communicating with personnel and the general public.
The Service has therefore urged the public to disregard the circulating report and refrain from sharing what it described as misinformation.
