Ghana Police Arrest NPP’s Abronye for Actions Threatening Public Peace

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye, on charges of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”
In a short statement released on Monday, September 8, the police confirmed that Abronye was detained earlier that day and is now in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in the next few days.
The police did not share specific details about the actions that led to his arrest. However, this comes at a time when the outspoken Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been under intense public scrutiny.
Abronye recently drew widespread attention by applying for political asylum in eight countries: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire. In his applications, he claimed he faces political persecution and threats to his life, accusing the government of misusing state security forces for political gain.
On Sunday, police searched the home of former NPP Youth Organiser Moses Abor as part of their investigation related to Abronye, but Abor was not there.
