Ghana Chamber of Mines Donates Sanitary Pads to 1,038 Schoolgirls in Mining Communities

The Ghana Chamber of Mines, in partnership with Zijin Golden Ridge Limited through the 2026 Purple Peach Project, has provided 1,038 schoolgirls in mining host communities with eight months’ worth of sanitary pads to promote menstrual hygiene and support uninterrupted learning.

The Chamber indicated that community development is not only about infrastructure but also about safeguarding the dignity, confidence, and wellbeing of young girls by ensuring they have access to essential menstrual hygiene products.

According to the Chamber, girls in deprived regions often miss school when their menstrual cycle begins due to a lack of adequate hygienic products.

The donation forms part of broader efforts to keep schoolgirls in the classrooms even during their menstruation days.
