GES Warns Against Illegal WASSCE Registrations, Describes Practice as Gross Misconduct

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned heads of schools and education officials against the illegal registration of students for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), describing the practice as a serious breach of established regulations.

In a statement, the Service explained that only final-year students whose academic progression from Form One through to Form Three can be clearly verified in a school’s official records are eligible to be registered for the examination by school authorities.

GES stressed that no head of school or official is permitted, under any circumstances, to register Form Two students or private candidates for the WASSCE.

The Service described such actions as gross misconduct and an abuse of office, particularly in cases where money is collected to facilitate the illegal registration of unqualified candidates.

GES warned that any school head or official found engaging in the practice will face strict disciplinary sanctions, as the Service moves to protect the integrity and credibility of the WASSCE.
