GES Launches Investigation into Fatal Stabbing of O’Reilly Senior High School Student
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated an administrative investigation into the stabbing death of Edward Sackey, a final-year student of O’Reilly Senior High School. The investigation is expected to be concluded within two weeks.
The incident occurred during an argument between Edward and a schoolmate over whose father was wealthier, which escalated into a physical altercation and resulted in Edward being stabbed multiple times.
The GES has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and the entire school community. A statement signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit of the GES, assured the public that the service is working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.
The Director-General of the GES led a team to visit the school and the deceased’s family to commiserate with them. The statement also assured the public that calm has been restored on the campus, and the GES is working to ensure the well-being and safety of all students and staff.
