GES Clarifies Automatic Salary Adjustments for Newly Promoted Teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that newly promoted teachers do not need to submit application letters or other documents for salary adjustments, as the process remains automatic.
In a statement issued on August 22, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, management said it had received concerns from some newly promoted teachers who were directed to submit application letters together with their promotion letters and other documents for the processing of salary adjustments to reflect their new ranks.
GES stated that teachers who are promoted to new ranks are usually placed automatically on the appropriate salary scale to reflect the new ranks. This existing practice has not changed.
Teachers are therefore to ignore any request to submit documents for salary adjustments.

Management called for calm among teachers as it engages the few regions and districts that are allegedly requesting such documents.
