German President Steinmeier to Begin Three-Day State Visit to Ghana on November 2

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will undertake a three-day state visit to Ghana from November 2 to 4, 2025, aimed at deepening bilateral ties in trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation.

The visit kicks off officially on Monday with a military Guard of Honour inspection at the Presidency’s Forecourt, followed by a closed-door meeting and bilateral talks between President Steinmeier and President John Dramani Mahama in the Credentials Room.

A State Luncheon will be hosted in Steinmeier’s honor at the Presidential Banquet Hall. He will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first president, engage with young IT specialists, and attend a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence.

On Tuesday, Steinmeier travels to Kumasi for a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute, meetings with KNUST leadership and alumni, a visit to the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, and a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace before departing.

The visit underscores Germany’s growing partnership with Ghana, with €1.2 billion in development aid since 2020 and over 200 German firms operating locally
