GCB Bank Clarifies No Robbery Occurred at Labone Branch

GCB Bank has clarified that no robbery or attempted robbery took place at its Labone branch, following an earlier police statement reporting that an attempted robbery had been foiled in the Labone area of Accra.
The Ghana Police Service said on Thursday, August 13, 2026, that it had foiled a robbery attempt at the GCB Bank in Labone, resulting in two suspected robbers being shot dead and another arrested.
However, GCB Bank said the incident did not occur at its Labone branch or on its premises.
“GCB Bank wishes to clarify that no robbery or attempted robbery took place at our Labone Branch or on the Bank’s premises,” the bank said in a statement issued on Thursday.
The bank said its branch was not breached and that no customer, staff member, funds or property was affected.
“At no point was the branch breached, and no customer, member of staff, funds or property of the Bank was affected,” it said.
GCB Bank assured customers that the Labone branch remained secure and urged them to continue conducting their banking transactions without concern.
The bank said it was in contact with the relevant authorities and would continue to monitor developments surrounding the incident.

“GCB Bank remains safe, secure and fully committed to serving” its customers and stakeholders, the statement added.
