Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has called for a dedicated quota for Ga-Dangme youth in government training, employment and development programmes.
He made the call during a courtesy visit to Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, to discuss initiatives to support development in the Ga Traditional Area.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said a dedicated quota would give young people from Ga-Dangme communities a fair opportunity to benefit from government interventions.
He also called for greater transparency in tracking beneficiaries, urging the YEA to provide traditional authorities with data on the number of Ga-Dangme youth trained or employed through its programmes.
According to the Ga Mantse, such data would enable traditional councils to assess the impact of government interventions and identify gaps in coverage.
He welcomed the YEA’s recent engagement with traditional councils and its request for beneficiary lists, describing it as a positive step towards involving traditional authorities.
The meeting also touched on the proposed 24-hour economy market at Agbogbloshie.
The Ga Mantse urged the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council and relevant state agencies to expedite efforts to clear the site to allow work on the project to begin.
The engagement forms part of efforts by the Ga Traditional Authority to strengthen collaboration with government institutions on youth employment and development initiatives.
