Former Labour Minister Awuah Among Three Arrested Over Fatal Nsoatreman-Kotoko Clashes
Former Labour Minister and Sunyani West MP Ignatius Baffour Awuah, along with two others, Agyemang Duah Owusu and Kyeremeh Joseph, have been taken into custody by the Ghana Police in connection with the violent clashes that erupted during a football match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025.
The incident, which sadly resulted in the loss of one life, has prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
As part of the investigation, a search of Agyemang Duah Owusu’s room uncovered two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol loaded with 15 rounds, which has intensified the probe. Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Asante Kotoko, assuring them that a thorough investigation is ongoing.
A special team from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters has been deployed to assist the Bono Regional Police Command in resolving the case.
