Ford Transit Bus Engulfed in Flames on Techiman-Sunyani Road at Faaman

A Ford Transit bus (registration BA-641-23) burst into flames at Faaman along the Techiman-Sunyani road in the Bono East Region around 12:03 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, leaving commuters shocked but unharmed.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from Techiman Station, led by Leading Fireman (LFM) Joseph Awuni, responded swiftly and extinguished the blaze after a fierce battle, though the vehicle was reduced to a shell.
No casualties were reported, as passengers evacuated promptly. The cause remains under investigation by GNFS officials, with preliminary reports suggesting a possible electrical fault or mechanical issue in the 15-seater van, common on this busy corridor prone to accidents due to poor road conditions.
This incident follows a pattern of vehicle fires on Ghanaian highways, including a similar outbreak at Lartebiokorshie earlier this month. Authorities urge drivers to ensure regular maintenance, especially on routes like Techiman-Sunyani, where reconstruction under the government’s “Big Push” initiative is slated for later this year.
