A devastating accident occurred on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Juaso-Yawkwei on Friday, March 21, 2025, claiming the lives of five people.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragic incident involved a Toyota saloon car with registration number GW 532-11 and a cargo truck with registration number AW 2808-22. The collision occurred around 1 p.m. when the tipper truck driver attempted to overtake the saloon car, resulting in a fatal crash.

Four of the victims, who were passengers in the Toyota vehicle, died instantly, while the fifth victim, who was critically injured, passed away shortly after being rushed to the Yawkwei Steward Hospital.

Reports indicate that the driver of the Toyota vehicle was a policeman stationed at Asante Akyem Agogo. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Yawkwei Steward Hospital.

The tipper truck driver and his mate have been arrested in connection with the accident. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
