Five Arrested Over Alleged Attack on Students at Calvary International School in Tatale

Police in Tatale in the Northern Region have arrested five persons suspected of attacking students of Calvary International School.

The arrests follow an incident reported to have occurred on May 11, 2026, when armed men allegedly invaded the school premises, assaulted students and forcibly shut down the school.

The proprietor of the school, Nwein Moses, said the attack was linked to a long-standing dispute over the land on which the school is situated.

According to him, the dispute persisted despite a High Court ruling in Tamale that reportedly went in favour of the school.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, May 20, Mr. Moses alleged that some members of the community rejected the court’s decision and subsequently carried out the attack on the institution.

He further disclosed that the matter was reported to the police immediately after the incident, although no arrests were initially made.

However, following increased public attention and media coverage of the case, police later conducted an operation in the community and arrested five suspects believed to be connected to the attack.

Reports indicate that after the arrests, some agitated community members stormed the police station in an attempt to free the suspects.

Police officers, however, managed to contain the situation and restore calm at the station.

The suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations, while the crowd that gathered at the station has since dispersed.
