Fire Guts Berekum Cinema Hall, Destroys Property Worth Thousands

A devastating fire outbreak has razed the Berekum Cinema Hall in the Bono Region, destroying property and vital documents valued at thousands of Ghana cedis.

The incident, which occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, triggered panic among traders and passers-by in the area.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to the emergency, working swiftly to contain the blaze before it could spread to adjoining structures.

The situation was particularly tense due to the cinema hall’s close proximity to a branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank, raising fears of a wider disaster.

Assistant Divisional Officer Grade Three, Ishaku Mohammed, who heads the Berekum Municipal Fire Command, disclosed that the fire was already intense by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

Despite the severity of the blaze, fire officers managed to bring it under control, successfully preventing further destruction to nearby shops and buildings.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
