Finance Minister States: “Cedi No Apicki” as Currency Strengthens to GH¢10.45

During the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on July 24, 2025, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that the Ghanaian cedi has stopped depreciating and is now appreciating against major currencies.
Emphasizing this with the phrase “Cedi no apicki,” he noted the cedi’s value has improved from GH¢15 to approximately GH¢10.45 per US dollar on the interbank market.
Dr. Forson attributed the currency’s strength to better macroeconomic fundamentals, increased gold and cocoa exports, and growing investor confidence.
He highlighted that the cedi’s appreciation is stabilizing prices, with slight reductions in the cost of some imported goods.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining these gains through prudent fiscal and monetary policies to ensure economic stability and lower inflation.
