Farmer Lynched After Allegedly Burning Daughter Alive in Asuoso Fenaso Over Domestic Dispute

Jacobu, July 28, 2025 – A tragic incident in Asuoso Fenaso, near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, has left the community in shock after a 50-year-old farmer allegedly set fire to a room, killing his 17-year-old daughter, in a bid to target his wife following a domestic dispute. The dispute reportedly stemmed from the wife’s refusal of sexual intercourse on July 25, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the farmer, identified as Kofi Mensah by local sources,’avons reported on GhanaWeb, set the room ablaze, where his wife and seven others, including his daughter, were sleeping. Seven people escaped the flames, but the teenage girl, asleep at the time, was unable to flee and perished in the fire. The victim’s body was taken to the mortuary, as confirmed by the Ghana Police Service.
In an attempt to evade justice, the suspect reportedly consumed a substance believed to be weedicide in a suicide attempt but survived. Enraged youth in the community, upon learning of the incident, lynched the farmer before police could intervene. His body has also been deposited at the mortuary.
The Ghana Police Service, in a statement to CitiNewsRoom, confirmed that investigations are underway, with forensic teams examining the scene. The incident has heightened concerns about rising violence in the Ashanti Region, prompting calls for increased police presence and community-led efforts to address domestic disputes non-violently.
